Everyday impact  Audio
A Fed rate cut may help the economy, but it won't do much for consumers, says George McBride, senior analyst for BankRate.com.

According to the latest polls the consumer confidence is all times lower. The housing market slump, the weak job market, inflation, the sell-off in the stock markets ... put the consumer in a somber mood.

Consumer confidence declined @ 9.1% from Nov.1987 (Post market crash) to Oct.2008. As bad as consumers think the economy is now, expectations are that it'll get worse before gets better. With job prospects becoming weaker and income staying stagnant the consumer confidence is expected to drop even further.

How to Submit your RSS Feed!... Increasing traffic to your Blog(s)

Now that we have ActiveRain RSS Feed Subscribe to JasonBartholme.com what can we do with it? Submitting your RSS Feed can be confusing and time consuming. Never the less is is very important to promote our blog (site or listings) to search engines.

There are a lot of lists out there of links to submit your RSS/XML feeds. However, many of those lists are outdated and include sites that require registration to submit your feed. Here below I gathered some of most popular submission sites, You can chose from Automatic or Manual Submission.

1. Feed Submitter - Automatic Free -

Google Blog Search
Google Ping
Technorati
Technorati Ping
Blogdigger
BloogZ
BlogStreet

If you want to make sure your blog is listed in Google blog search right away you can use Google ping now and bookmark or link to this page and submit your RSS feed to the directories after you have added more posts to your blog.

2. Manual Submission

Here is a list of sites where the user does not have to create a registration to submit a feed. I thought this would be a quick way for you to gain feed subscribers, increase back links, and site traffic. You should be able to go through this list under a half an hour.

Bonus: RSS Mage accepts video, picks and flash content.

***********************************************************

Where to start!

The Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 Feed icon.RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other on-line publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

You don't have to worry about anything else at the moment. Just grab the URL address of your RSS feed of:

  • ActiveRain Blog... See at the left side of your page under the vertical navigation bar... those 2 icons:

RSS 2.0 Feed for this blog
ATOM 1.0 Feed for this blog

Click on them to get the URL address... That is YOUR RSS & ATOM address of your blog!

  • Outside Blog...  Go on YOUR Outside Blog page (if you have upload it) and see this icon on the let upper corner of your page

Click on it to get the URL address... That is YOUR RSS address of your blog!

Now that you have the HTML address of your RSS go and submit them to search engines.

GOOD LUCK!

***********************************************************

QUESTION ASKED: What is the difference between RSS and Atom?
ANSWER:  RSS and Atom are functionally equivalent for users.

Atom is better than RSS. Still, sometimes it is the job of the application developers to choose between Atom and RSS. If part of the answer is that Google Reader and Facebook have better support for Atom then I need to consider that when picking a format for the default. It is about the same. RSS has nine versions. Atom is still rather new, so it doesn't have as many versions. Some people claim RSS is less flexible than Atom when it comes to adapting to change and new technologies.

In my opinion just go with your RSS address when signing up for a subscribing.

NEW LOCALISM... Is HERE ... Know How!!!

Today I stumbled by pure coincidence into the: NEW LOCALISM is up and running. WOW! I was very impressed. The most anticipated real estate site "Most Complete Neighborpedia" is finally open for business. The design is sophisticated and the site navigation very easy.

By their own definition: "Localism is a hyper local, hyper targeted and startlingly affordable advertising opportunity based on sponsorship of individual neighborhood pages. Each sponsorship includes prominent placement of your profile and content on the main neighborhood page."

There is a new exciting twist to the site... A new - Community Sponsorship - an excellent and unique opportunity to bust your popularity and presence on Internet circle of Real Estate Professionals... It means good business. What is Community Sponsorship?...

For more details you can go to: COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP ... Sponsor_comm Sponsor a community (it's fast and easy) It is easy as 1,2,3,4

  1. WHO? - Any current ActiveRain member

  2. WHY? - Establish yourself as the community expert. Provide increased market exposure...

  3. WHEN? - Beginning on July 31st at 12:00 Noon ... SHARP!

  4. HOW? - Select the communities you want to sponsor! Follow the instructions and you’re done!

On July 31st, at 12,00 noon you access Localism.com site, Log-in and be well prepared to have handy all your information: Description of the Area (you are sponsoring), Pictures, Links you want to include, Picture and Contact Information.

Updates: Now that the shock and excitement settled down, one day later, I am getting little confused and have second thoughts about this NEW LOCALISM - Community Sponsorship -

  • I am concerned about paying to be an expert instead of writing to be one. I would rather pay a membership fee than pay to "own a city". As the number one writer in my area if  I don't purchase enough neighborhoods to gain the city, someone who doesn't write anything can just open a checkbook and be the local expert.

My most pressing concern is about buying a sponsorship to a community.  Not saying I do, but if I was to work my butt off to provide content to localism and someone else could surpass me through simply buying a sponsorship, why would I take the time to create that content. Social Network Blog HACKED! ... Can we prevent from catching the bug? ... Our computer security and protecting our privacy. IMPORTANT?

I've got Spam!... I've got infected... HOW?

My PC suffered a hard drive failure (yes it's been a lovely week)!... Since few weeks ago while ActiveRain server was down and acting wired, my computer started acting out; slowing down, crushing the window, displaying all errors messages... Even after ActiveRain announced that they fixed the nasty bugs they encountered my computer was not the same.

I went and Goggled the keywords: "blogger social network hacked" ... "blogger social network infected" ETC

To my total surprise I found thousands of information about latest waves of attacks on social network blogging from hacking... hard to believe that Google Blogger among other many popular social network blogs had been under attack.

  • According to BBC News, Blogger has been hacked.

    • Google’s Blogger site is being used by malicious hackers... Google's blogger.com is being hijacked to spread malware through fake blogs.
    • MySpace and YouTube have all been used to host or redirect to malware. Last October, MySpace was used as the lure for phishing, while earlier in the year its users were infected with adware from the site.
    • WordPress
    • And many more... To many to mention here!

After latest computer crash I decided to run a virus test (Norton Antivirus) only to find out that Yes! I got infected with MalwareCrush, Trojan. This bugger is really nasty. First it infects every .exe file on the computer, then it goes into email and sends itself to every one of your contacts, and then downloads a Trojan from a remote server that allows to take over your computer-and that's not all.

It is network aware so it will also search out any other computers sharing the network and infect them too.

OUTSIDE BLOGIn the light of ActiveRain announcement of Outside Blogs I am only concerned about the security of my personal computer and my private information's... Yes! Google's blogger.com did it ... but it is struggling with hakes and bugs in their servers.

Is ActiveRain prepared to secure their servers and our individuals accounts from being hacked?

Here is how it works: ( A tale of two posts: The vortex and the virus ) Similar to a nuclear chain reaction that continuously sparks additional activity further and further out, a post captures the attention of others and inspires them to comment, not on the original blog but on their own blogs. In other words, the original post ‘infects’ a few other bloggers, whose posts ‘infect’ even more people, who in turn ‘infect’ even more, and so on. Commenting and hyperlinking is occurring in a variety of different places, many far removed from the original post. In its totality, a rich, complex dialogue is occurring. It’s just difficult to figure out where.

Once I got my computer severely disabled (took a week to restore it) and got the taste of what it takes to repair - fix - the bugs it is hard to decide. Am I ready to take the plunge into ActiveRain Outside Blogs ? As exciting as it sounds needs to be looked into.

Note: I am using my computer only for ActiveRain blogging and checking emails ... as I have my editing and photo programs installed for web graphics and websites designing software's.

For all other Internet needs I use my laptop... In my mind the laptop should be more vulnerable to cyber attacks as I am using it for researching, cruising the Internet, accessing other social networking blogs...etc. More dangerous stuff!

I like to hear your thought... Any advice?

The Rabbit Super MeMe bug !!!...

It is the season... and did not get my flu shoot to prevent it! I've got the bug!... the rabbit super MeMe bug !!!

And she gave it to me... Thank you Mirela! OUCH, I've Been Bit!

I don't really like to talk about me ... But this time The MeMe format is more like a Questionnaire Q/A and feel easier to stick with the questions... HERE YOU HAVE IT!

  • Who is your favorite musical artist?

I love the piano classic (and jazz) music most of all. From early age I was exposed to piano classical music and I love - "Moonlight Sonata" (1st Movement) - by Ludwig van Beethoven ... My mother will play it for me and my sister when going to sleep... It was our lullaby! and she was young, beautiful and very talented!... It's my most precious memory.

It's my favorite piece in the whole world!

Please let the video play the music while reading the post.

  • Who is your favorite artist?

TIBURON - The Ocean and flowers-March 2004

Lance Armstrong - Tour de France 2004

My incredible talented nephew Luca Jacque who was only 3 years old in 2004 when he had an exhibition with @ 30 painting. He did all his work under my father's supervision and painting lessons.

My father organized the exhibition at the Marin College show room in July 2005...

****************************

As for my favorite movie actor: Definitely George Clooney.

He has what it takes to be a real Hollywood Movie Star: Charisma, Personal magnetism, Masculine beauty and Class.

He is in many ways today's Carry Grand... So I see him ! Could be my mother's influence on my vision about the old movies times when "Movies were great movies" and old movie stars "WERE STARS"...

  • If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

I always wanted to meet Shirley MacLane.... I am a big fan of her - everything - movies, books and views about spiritual life. Since I saw her movie "Out on the Limb" I want nothing more than to travel to Machu Picchu - Peru- and experience first hand the magic and power of that land...

  • Who has been the person in your life that has had the greatest impact on you?

That would definitely be my grandfather Tom who comforted me when I needed him; and put a smile on my face when I was sad or down; I miss him dearly and I hope I get to meet him again... He was the most giving generous, warm, funny men - my best friend - He was the only one who knew ME at the deepest level of my soul.

I remember after I came in United State (I was only six years old) calling him on the phone all days (every days) long, (while back there in Europe was the middle of night) telling him all that I did that day. He was sweet and patient making jokes here and there... but so terrible confused and so was I! But we kept talking to his last day on earth... I was with him that day!

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always dreamed to live on a farm, have at least 4 kids, dogs, horses, and all that animals ... Anything but a city girl!!! So I guess I wanted to be a farmer -:)

  • If you could do anything what would you do?

Always loved animals... all kind of shapes, sizes or breeds. As a child I wanted to have a horse, later I collected all kind of animals and adopted them as my pets: cats, dogs, birds (cockatoo), hamsters, iguana (yes you heard it!), ferret....

I would love to be able to open an animal shelter... Brakes my heart to see how many of them are abused, mistreated and lost. To me they are the forgotten creature on earth.

  • What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?

Trivia for
The Rat Pack (1998)

Don Cheadle only had a couple of weeks to prepare for the role of Sammy Davis Jr.. He learned to sing, tap dance, play drums, play trumpet and twirl six-shooter pistols like Davis did. He took tap dance lessons from Savion Glover.

  • If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?

No preference, no expectation... I will be the same doing the same. By the way I believe that we have many lives over time and probably we keep coming back to learn more and become better people.

  • When you look into the mirror, who do you see?

I started not likeing to look in the mirror (unless I have to put on my makeup -:)) lately I see the fine lines where were not supposed to be, here and there gray hair (I hate that one) and depends... on the day: sometimes I like what I see sometimes I don't!

  • What is the most interesting job you have ever held?

For 10 years I was working in fashion industry and had my own line of clothing.... Yes designing clothing is a fantastic job.

  • What is the worst job you've ever had?

I don't think that I had bad jobs ever... Always enjoyed what I was doing... but again I was always doing what I wanted to do!

I do what I like and I like what I do!

  • What is your biggest missed opportunity?

I don't know if I had any great opportunity yet! so I am not missing anything yet... Waiting for one and ready to grab it!
