NEW LOCALISM... Is HERE ... Know How!!!

Today I stumbled by pure coincidence into the: NEW LOCALISM is up and running. WOW! I was very impressed. The most anticipated real estate site "Most Complete Neighborpedia" is finally open for business. The design is sophisticated and the site navigation very easy.

By their own definition: "Localism is a hyper local, hyper targeted and startlingly affordable advertising opportunity based on sponsorship of individual neighborhood pages. Each sponsorship includes prominent placement of your profile and content on the main neighborhood page."

There is a new exciting twist to the site... A new - Community Sponsorship - an excellent and unique opportunity to bust your popularity and presence on Internet circle of Real Estate Professionals... It means good business. What is Community Sponsorship?...

For more details you can go to: COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP ... Sponsor_comm Sponsor a community (it's fast and easy) It is easy as 1,2,3,4

  1. WHO? - Any current ActiveRain member

  2. WHY? - Establish yourself as the community expert. Provide increased market exposure...

  3. WHEN? - Beginning on July 31st at 12:00 Noon ... SHARP!

  4. HOW? - Select the communities you want to sponsor! Follow the instructions and you’re done!

On July 31st, at 12,00 noon you access Localism.com site, Log-in and be well prepared to have handy all your information: Description of the Area (you are sponsoring), Pictures, Links you want to include, Picture and Contact Information.

Updates: Now that the shock and excitement settled down, one day later, I am getting little confused and have second thoughts about this NEW LOCALISM - Community Sponsorship -

  • I am concerned about paying to be an expert instead of writing to be one. I would rather pay a membership fee than pay to "own a city". As the number one writer in my area if  I don't purchase enough neighborhoods to gain the city, someone who doesn't write anything can just open a checkbook and be the local expert.

My most pressing concern is about buying a sponsorship to a community.  Not saying I do, but if I was to work my butt off to provide content to localism and someone else could surpass me through simply buying a sponsorship, why would I take the time to create that content. Hi Arina, I glanced at Localism Tuesday and the layout of the new version is very clean and crisp. Thanks for all your additional information on the Community Sponsorship. I still have to learn how to edit my profile and find my list of blogs which was there in the old version but I can't find in the new version.

Gary, Now that I think about it... I have to wait and see. The New Localism has many issues and aspects to be grasped before spending more time in this Community Sponsorship.

It is energy time consuming ... You're better of writing your beautiful posts... at least for the time been.

Carole, Agree but before I read Katarina's post I'll say that I am more and more concerened with the entire structure and concept of the New Localism.

Lot's of question

  • The new Localism runs all the community interest blogs together with listings, market reports etc.  I just like it if everything is in categories and organized instead of running together with no semblance of order. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack.  I know many Active Rainers that don't use it anymore for that very reason.
  • The Active Rain network has thrived because of trust and camaraderie amongst participants and the belief that original content created would be the hallmark which defined success. The New Localism by simply buying a sponsorship change all that.

Greg, Go check that and let me know what you think about.

GITA, I am thinking that the more we check the New Localism site the more we'll have questions to clarify. Not to many campers around!

Im skeptical, there are so many communities that I farm with mailing material, now I should sponsor them online? I think our blog content will be a greater strength than someone who just sponsors a community with money rather than keep it updated. Im curious to see how it works out and what kind of rush there will be in my area.
