"Blue Eyes"... a tribute to Las Vegas! (Updated)

As my previous post about Sinatra - "Blue Eyes"... a tribute to Las Vegas! - brought an impossible glitch to my Blog as no one would be able to leave a comment, nor to see the page correctly displayed in the window, I am reposting it after redesigning it.

It is neither to undersell nor overstate Frank Sinatra's contribution to Las Vegas. He made the city swing... he took the city by storm... he gave Las Vegas something equally important: an image.

Sinatra was a Las Vegas fixture for 43 years, from his first appearance in September 1951 until May 1994. And the city has an intoxicating admiration for the men that put Las Vegas on the map. Sinatra's magic was more easily described: gambling, womanizing, drinking till dawn -- and all of it with style.

He did it all HIS WAY! And this becomes, in many ways, the mantra that caries Las Vegas up to the hills of its success... glamour, gambling, ephithemy of good time, good life and sheer excitement... Sinatra aura brought international royalty and made Las Vegas a global destination. The capital of entertainment.

What if there had been if Sinatra wouldn't love this city? is nearly impossible to imagine, because the rise of the singer and the Vegas Strip were inseparable. "With his little gang of merry men he established forever a sense of free-floating fun and frolic that captured the imagination of the world," Gregory Peck told celebrities two weeks after Sinatra's death in May 1998.

A new stamp honoring Frank Sinatra goes on sale next week. First-day-of-sale ceremonies for the 42-cent stamp will be held Tuesday at three locations familiar to the famed singer and actor. via Florida Times-Union

I don't imagine anyone on this planet would not love and enjoy his music.

Here is my favorite!... Speaks to my heart.
"... much more than this, I DID IT MY WAY!"

Sinatra fans and stamp collectors all over the world have been eagerly awaiting the release of this wonderful tribute memorializing the "Chairman of the Board". Next to Elvis, because of the gum on the stamp backing, Frank might just end up one of the most "licked" men on earth. :-)

Arina,

I think Sinatra is great. When we have company for dinner, Sinatra and the King of Cool, Dino, are among others put on the stereo. I still kick myself for not going to see him when I had a chance. In 1984 the wife and I were in Vegas for the National Association of Broadcasters convention. He was at, I think, the Gold Nugget. We did not take the time to go. Missed a legend. As an old radio guy, since we are comparing, my favorite Sinatra tune has got to be this one:

Steve's Sinatra Fav

Susan, Ideas are universally available to all minds... As you are Italian descendent I know that Sinatra is your "GOD FATHER" icon. No wander you were inspired to post one,

As Vegas resident Sinatra is our city symbol and pride... I posted it a week ago but the post generated a impossible glitch in the system and no one could leave comments... I reposted today as I really loved to see this post displayed correctly.

We can have same topic posted... The posts are different. Yours is lovely and authentic

David, Like your humor, "one of the most "licked" men on earth" ... as well as he was the most controversial men of his generation. He had GUTS... Great men.

Arina, I was one of the first to read your original on this post and got hung up in your Active Rain glitch where I couldn't leave a comment. You knew about the stamp early on. A great tribute and I think like you as I used that video about being yourself one time in one of my blogs and you and Susan were on the same page with Sinatra and the stamp release. Hey, all great minds, right? ; )

Gary, What was Las Vegas before Frank Sinatra ?... NOTHING! It was a city of sin, gambling, gangsters fighting with each other, in other words - lost city in the dessert - NOTHING but trouble!

Frank put Las Vegas on the map, gave it an image, raised it's style and glamour... made it the world capital of entertainment.

I could not miss the opportunity to write about most iconic entertainers of the 20th century, and the Godfather of Las Vegas.

Thank you for your comment... Yes, we are great minds -:)

Arina, You know I also tried to comment before on Sinatra.  His music is timeless.....my mother leaves the collection I got for her with him on all the time, she remembers the day!  Great video.

Carole, Yes, and thank you for your email... I've been trying to fix the bug but I couldn't do it. The ActiveRain troubleshooting department could not either! So I had to cut corners and use an old trick... to display the content (edited on my website) in a "iframe"... so to get it right.

Thank you for been such considerate and good friend.
