We all have something to give...

You can get anything you want in life if you
help enough other people get what they want.

Zig Ziglar

  • We all have something to give.

Most of us learn at some point in life that we need encouragement on a regular basis. We live at such hectic lifes that sometimes we feel down and discouraged. Some of us discovered the very best "recharges" for the batteries of life. It is a simple exercise.

  • Help somebody else.

Think of an act of kindness you can do for someone. Then think of a specific someone for whom you could do it. Then do it. It is as simple as that.

Now, you may be wondering if such a simple action can truly result in positive personal benefit. The answer is a definite "yes". When you are thinking about your action and the person or persons for whom you will act, you forget about yourself. Self-forgetfulness is the direct opposite of self-absorption... That will just ease your negative, personal burdens.

  • It is first step to healing yourself!

I don't remember the name of a movie, I saw a while ago, where a child came up with the idea of helping 3 people with the promise that each of them will help in return also, 3 other people... and so on. (resemble the piramid structure?) But in the name of good and kindness.

When you help others you really do help yourself. It is the way God designed us.

Zig Ziglar has a lot to say that is very bang on. It is a simple principle but people forget because they just want to reach their goal.

Two people beat me to it with regard to Pay it Forward.  This is a concept that I very much agree with and try to practice here on Active Rain.  Great post.

It is common practice to help and when you need it most it appears.

Gary : it is sad in a way how absorbed we are with our jobs and our own expectations from life that we forget about others hardship. Not helping others makes our life small and insignificant.

Mike : Thank you for reading my post.

Diane : So simple and so often forgotten

Michael :Always glad to see you around. You have a point. People have the tendency to look for instant gratification.

Arina, I agree that helping others definitely pays off in the end.  I liked the movie "Pay it Forward".  We should all work on that concept.

Helping other people brings about feelings of satisfaction, happiness and joy in me. To know that my help has contributed to resolving their problem or burden helps to fulfill me as well.

Its like the old saying, "What comes around, goes around " Whether in good or bad, although I choose the good ! Helping people should be on our agenda every single day, not only when you think you may receive something in return !

Good post. We have so much to give and sometimes we don't see our own potential. When we truly figure out that it's not about us and it's better to give then receive we will be on the right path.

It is so rewarding to be able to help others and actually SEE how much it has helped. I could do that 24/7. However, often we cannot see how much help we have been to someone. The person you smiled at in the store this morning might have been about ready to give up on life but a simple smile told him there are still nice people around. The convenience-store clerk that you said "have a blessed day" to, instead of 'have a good one" may be questioning God, and that simple statement came at exactly the right moment and gave her hope again. We don't see these things, but they are as powerful as doing a good deed.

I know, because several years ago, I WAS that clerk who felt at the bottom, and unsure if there was any goodness and Godliness left in the world. then total strangers would smile or tell me to have a blessed day, and I realized God often speaks through us. It doesn't take anything major to have an effect on the lives of others, but it does take something major inside of us to make us want to. So let the Spirit speak through you, and trust that, somehow, you have truly helped another human being exactly when they needed it!

It's a wonderful way to live.

Here's hoping everyone walks with the intent to brighten everyone's day around them.

Roberta : I was so moved by that movie and still keep it in my mind. I like to see the dat when the large majority of people embraces and live by that.

Derrick : It is a truth that not to many are aware of these days... More and more people get the tendency to live for their own materialistic-ego driven reasons.

Melissa; Thank you for your comment. You are so true. Life would be so much better off if we'll live by the goodness of our hearts.

Robert: How can we keep in mind that clear message?

Posted by Arina S. Hanciulescu over 2 years ago

Amber : I completely understand where are you coming from... I am right now in that place, feeling the emptiness and coldness of the world. Hope to get wiser and better looking for that purpose in life: to help others like I do have everything I need and more.

Arina, that has always been one of my favorite Zig quotes; it's absolutely so important in life. Lovely post. This really is what God wants us all to do...just imagine the world if we all complied.
