American Home Mortgage filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday. Its 40 biggest creditors include virtually all the major names of Wall Street. At the top of the list are Deutsche Bank AG and JPMorgan Chase & Co.

American Home Mortgage had three offices in the Las Vegas area and one in Reno.

A local licensee for American Home Mortgage said Indymac Bancorp of Pasadena, Calif., had taken over operations at American Home Mortgage offices in Nevada and a regional office identifies itself as American Home Mortgage-Indymac.

Falling home prices and a spike in payment defaults have scared investors away from mortgage debt, including bonds and other securities backed by home loans.

Did that ever happened to you???

We all are working hard and do our best to keep up with the pace of Blogging on AR. In the beginning I was not so much into it, but lately as I got engaged more and more with my other friends on this community, I am working rigorously on my blog.

It happened before to find out that the points on my account did not much my activity (according with AR's own records). Today Aug.20th. I see that my points doesn't reflect the activity on my account again.

WHY IS THAT? There is something wrong with AR server? Can that be corrected? It is quite frustrating to work so hard to position my blog as high as I can and get IN RETURN such poor results on my points...   Wouldn't be nice to get our correct points?

How does a foreclosure versus a Short Sale affect my credit?

Foreclosures show up on your credit report as "FORECLOSURE", and can stay on your record for seven years. This may make it difficult for you to obtain a new loan in the future.  It must also be disclosed on job applications which can sometimes make or break a decision to employ you. A Short Sale is listed as "SETTLED DEBT", and is much less harmful to your credit. Please consult a credit company for more information.

In a Short Sale, it is possible the bank could report the difference in what you sell your property for and what was owed. This means the IRS could consider the difference as income, and you could be taxed on that income. The bank might also ask you to pay a portion of the difference back in the form of an unsecured note, which is similar to an I.O.U. However when we negotiate with the bank, we employ tactics to have the bank consider the debt settled and that no further monies are owed.


In a foreclosure, your house is sold at an auction. This typically causes the difference of the total amount you owe and the foreclosure sale price to be much greater. This means you have a higher potential tax liability. Additionally, the bank may come after you for a Deficiency Judgment.

Where to find gadgets

If you're looking for something to jazz up your pages, check out these free website gadgets that you can add to your site -- most with no programming skills required.

You can use a search engine to find free website add-ons. Just search for terms like free scripts, or website gadgets. But why bother? Here's a list of some of the best sites for finding gadgets:

  • Bravenet hosts a number of free scripts on their website. They have a guestbook, message forum, counters, chat rooms and much more. You can sign up for free, and select the scripts you want. When you are ready to install, just follow the directions. In most cases, you copy and paste the script into your web pages. The rest is done through special coding and using the Bravenet resources.
  • Geocities has free hosting for your website, but they also feature a lot of cool gadgets as well. If you host your website with them, they have scripts for counters, clocks, maps and more. You can even add a search box to your web page, that will allow visitors to search your website or the World Wide Web.
  • Matt's Scripts has a ton of already created scripts prepared for you. The scripts can create form mail, message boards and link directories for your website. Again, you just follow the directions and you can have all these cool gizmos on your website.
  • Other gadget directories include HotScripts, Scripts.com and Script Search.
