Housing market slow down taking a toll on real estate agents

Recently I came across a post on Active Rain:  7 Reasons not to use a Part-time real Estate Agent...              Real estate is not something that can be done on a part-time basis. Here are seven reasons not to use a part-time real estate agent.

I think that this is not simple assessment to make. The situation is more complex and has a lot to with the reality of today's real estate economy.

A recent report from PMI Mortgage Insurance listed Las Vegas as a risky market with a good chance for declining home prices over the next two years. A slow down in the local housing market is beginning to affect more than buyers and sellers. A number of agents across the valley are now looking for second jobs. With the current trend in housing, she thought it only made sense to have a plan B... What that can be? Sometimes to get a second job.

I think that is nice and dandy to speculate on other issues when your back is covered and feel safe and something else when you can't afford to pay your bills... Obviously those less fortunate by the "profits made over the good years" have to find part time jobs (for a period of time) to meet the needs. Are those to be judged and discriminated against? Are they less of good real estate agents? I would say NO, but contrary they are the heroes of the day... And I bet you that when the prosperous real estate market comes back they will run far ahead of us. They passed the test of endurance and hardship.

Nevada forclosures again top U.S.

Business Las Vegas - July 20

Nevada may hold its worst-in-the-nation position as the foreclosure capital of the nation.

In June, Nevada had one foreclosure filing for every 175 households to lead the nation for the sixth-consecutive month, according to RealtyTrac. That's a 280 percent increase over June 2006 and well ahead of second-place California.

As foreclosures increase, help may be on the way for homeowners to ease their burden. The Nevada Mortgage Lending Division, and U.S. Housing and Urban Development and other groups are working on setting up a local hotline for homeowners to get advice and avert foreclosure. The group will meet in August to discuss setting up the hotline.

Banks are willing to renegotiate loans and more and more sellers are turning to short sales in which the home is sold for less money that the homeowner owes on the loan.

Red Rock Country Club Real Estate

Red Rock Country Club  *** Red Rock Country Club is located along the Western edge of Las Vegas in Summerlin. Designed and developed by Sunrise Colony, a builder of some of America's finest Country Club Communities, the 24 hour guard-gated community has the recreational features of a luxury resort, but offers the privacy and serenity sought after by the most discriminating of home buyers.

Adjacent to the Red Rock National Park & Conservation area, Red Rock Country Club's natural beauty is one of its best highlights. The community sits at elevations from 3,000 feet above sea level and its rugged terrain includes 100 foot deep canyons as well as lakes, waterfalls, and streams.

This eighteen hole facility is desert style in design, however, it is unique in that its perimeter mounding promotes a stadium effect. This also aids in deterring wayward fairway shots from going astray. Course designer Arnold Palmer followed the idea of preserving some of the existing formations and natural drainage patterns, therefore limiting the amount of disruption to the natural surroundings. The greens are fairly small compared to most newer courses. They have mild undulation and are very fair. Golfers of all abilities will experience a pleasurable challenge on this course. Due to the private nature of this course, fees are not published. The club plans to open eighteen more holes, in nine hole stages. The target date for completion of the first nine holes is 2000. Guests must be accompanied by a member. Those interested in membership information please call (702) 360-2223.
